The Rural Development Society(RDS) , formed  seven years back as a Not-for-Profit organization known as NGO in the normal parlance has become house hold name in and around Gandharvakkottai area of Pudukkottai  District by dent of its sustained services for the uplift of the Rural and poor since its inception , without discrimination of caste , creed, color and religion . Through its action plans drawn up carefully for each year and by their meticulous implementation with the co-operation of the general public, government officials, local bodies and the beneficiaries out of the good will earned from them. RDS has created a special niche among all of them.

            RDS continues to make strides in all its activities in different spheres with the sole among developing the rural masses. In this economically, culturally, educationally and industrially most backward region which was part of the erstwhile princely state of pudukkottai before India attained its independence.

            The RDS headed by its dedicated President and spirited members committed towards development of the rural poor is selecting the needs and identifying the beneficiaries meticulously for launching various programs. Motivating the targeted beneficiaries gets the top priority. Scheme are drawn up having in mind the current schemes of the state and central government  departments / undertakings etc., to facilitate easy implementation of them dovetailing the government schemes in the particular spheres. Besides, RDS is also intending to formulate its own programmes to supplement the efforts of the government tom achieve maximum benefits. If at all RDS could achieve so  much on uplifting the poor it is all due to the generosity on the part of its donors; guidance and advice of the government officials , backup institutions , local bodies and the encouragement of the political leaders, public figures and at last the co-operation of the beneficiaries themselves.

            RDS with its dynamic president and dedicated team of members hope to achieve more in the future with the same kind of generosity , guidance , advice, encouragement and co-operation of all concerned as in the past.

            RDS believes in its past experience even with the limited resources and infrastructure , can achieve more in the future in uplifting the status of the rural communities with the formulation of its own schemes if it could improve its resource and infrastructure with external aid from institutions / organizations interested in the development of rural poor. If it fructifies RDS could enlarge its programmes area wise also with such assistance forth coming, as it is confident of formulating its own innovative programmes for the benefit of the rural masses in various spheres after doing some home work in the form of pilot scheme to suit individual village targeted for overall development.
